The yearly number of attendance was in a range of 150 to 170 millions. From mid-1970s to today, the number have increased or decreased in a narrow range.

It had become more evident that the major movie companies except for Nikkatsu might shift its business from production to distribution.
As for the titles listed in the Top_10_Movies, majority of them were ones produced by independent production companies. Furthermore, many of the titles by the major companies were co-productions.
The "Top_10_Movies " titles which the major companies produced alone were rare (in 1981, three by Toho, Nikkatsu and Shochiku; in 1982, zero; in 1983, two each by Toho and Shochiku; in 1984, only one by Toho: and in 1985, two by Toei).
I think that, around mid-1980s, it had become no longer meaningful to indicate "Production Company". Thus, from the next "Top_10_Movies" list in 1986, the item "Production Company" would be omitted.
